There are Royal Air Force Lists available at Anc. and FindMyPast, also here but I found the site a bit difficult to navigate.

This could be him in April 1940,

I can follow this man through to July 1945,

Thank you, Daisy.

Yes, he was a civil engineer.  And yes, the monthly lists are tedious to work through.
Anyway, I'm impressed at the way RootsChatters find sources that I never knew existed.

Bagwell of Kilmore & Lisronagh, Co. Tipperary;  Beatty from Enniskillen;  Brown from Preston, Lancs.;  Burke of Ballydugan, Co. Galway;  Casement in the IoM and Co. Antrim;  Davison of Knockboy, Broughshane;  Frobisher;  Guillemard;  Harrison in Co. Antrim and Dublin;  Jones around Burton Pedwardine, Lincs.;  Lindesay of Loughry;  Newcomen of Camlagh, Co. Roscommon;  Shield;  Watson from Kidderminster;  Wilkinson from Leeds

The Avro Anson doesn't seem to have had a good safety record.
Google shows up dozens of crashes.

Although the list of Avro Anson crashes may seem long, this aircraft type was in service with the RAF for over 30 years and a total of 10,966 were built. Compare with the RAF Gloster Meteor which had 145 fatal accidents in 1953 alone.
