Hi all
I'm looking into JANE MORGAN (born around 1856-1960) in Oldbury. Here are the things I know about her thus far:
Jane married William Ashcroft on 3rd September 1877 in Dudley, Staffordshire. She was listed as being 21 years old (so her birth year would have been 1856). All I can see (without the certificate) is that her father's name was Thomas Morgan.
Post-marriage, I have found her and William in the following census records: 1881, 1891, 1901, 1911.
Her children were: Caroline (1878), Mary Jane (1879), George (1881), William (1883), John Thomas (1885), Samuel (1887), John (1888-1888), Ernest (1888), John (1891), Emma (1892), Frederick (1894), Robert (1898), Sarah (1900) and Edith May (1909).
In each census above she was living in Oldbury. She is also consistently cited as being born in Oldbury. However, her year of birth changes between census record as follows: 1881 (1855), 1891 (1860), 1901 (1858), 1911 (1859).
I'm struggling to find a death for Jane. Her husband William died on 16th July 1919. Address given was 41 Halesowen Street, Oldbury. I did look for Jane in the 1921 census but I couldn't find her so she could have died some time between 1911 and 1921.
I'm also struggling to find Jane's parents. On her marriage banns her father is listed as Thomas Morgan. However, I can find no Jane Morgan living with a father Thomas prior to her marriage in 1877. I did find a Jane (born in 1856) living in Doddenham with mother Mary Morgan. This Jane was baptised alongside two siblings (John and Mark) in 1857 in Knightwick. However, this seems to be a distance from Oldbury, and the census records are consistent in saying Jane was born in Oldbury.
Any help would be appreciated.
