Lodgers List - electors 1910

Hi Folks,
I've just discovered that my grandfather (a joiner & builder) was renting a Furnished Bedroom from his father in 1910.  He was paying 12s 6d a week, and would have been aged about 23.

The Resource is the Lodgers List for Parliamentary and Parochial Electors.

Under what rules would he have been given the vote.

Section 5 of the Representation of the Peoples Act 1884 otherwise known as the Third Reform Act said that any male tenant paying rent over £10 a year was entitled to vote in Parliamentary elections. The following section entitled the same to vote in Borough elections. As he was paying £32 10s a year in rent he would qualify, but only after he had been there a full 12 months.
