Help needed to identify uniforms in Gibraltar

Hello,

I'm hoping someone could help me to identify the uniforms in the below photo please. Unfortunately I have very little information other than this photo was amongst my grandfather's collection of family photos, so I can only assume they are his relatives. His father's family was from Banffshire, Wiltshire and Sussex whilst his mother's family was from Suffolk and Norfolk.

The only other information available is that the photo seems to have been taken in Gibraltar and I believe their hats suggest they were in the air force - any other ideas greatly appreciated!

Victorian uniform of the  British Army, circa the Boer War. I can’t make out the cap badge, perhaps someone else will have better luck.

I think it's a bit earlier. Circa 1885-1895.

Definitely not air force!
