Hello,I hope someone can help me,I am looking for information on my ancestor jacoba christina pol,she was born in Shoreditch in 1911 and died in Ludlow,Shropshire in 1996,she married my ancestor Joseph Edward Davies(1902 highley to November 1985 Ludlow) in Lewisham 1930.
    Could someone please tell me if they had children,and I am trying to find jacobas parents names,they only information I can find is,her mother was a miss pullen,cannot find her first name,any help at all would be greatly appreciated,kind regards Dean

I would suggest that purchase of a copy of Jacoba's birth certificate would be a good start.  A pdf copy would be the cheapest option, from:

You will need to register (free).

Using FreeBMD and entering Davies with mother's surname of Pol, there are two children showing - 1931 and 1933.  I have not added their names as it is possible that they are still alive.

Again using FreeBMD and surnames of Pol and Pullen, there is a marriage entry in West Ham RD in September 1910 quarter, where Herm Pol and Violet Pullen appear on the same page.

Herm and Violet appear on the 1911 census living at 10 Kingsland Road, Shoreditch.

ADDED:  The 1911 census says that Hem is Dutch.

Ancestry thinks that this is Herm Pol:

Herm Pol born 14/12/1886, Zwolle
parents Hendrik (timmerman = carpenter) and Matse Pol

Violet's baptism record indicates that her middle name was Matse

Added: this birthdate matches that given in the 1939 register

The 1921 census confirms Zwolle as the place of birth for Herm.  Address is 157 Turnpike Lane, Hornsey.

Herm Pol (the elder) died 4 November 1956 at Lewisham Hospital
His address was 86 Springbank Road, Lewisham

Probate 29 April 1957
