The Diss Express, 3 Oct 1941 has the obit of -
Elijah Allard, Deben View, Debenham, age 83, born Kenton married Ipswich 22 Apr 1883 (bride not named). Shoemaker by trade. Ten children of whom nine survive him.
His widow and 3 sons unable to attend funeral

Elijah 1858 of Kenton had a wife called Fanny in 1901, he was son of William and Eliza, single and living with parents in 1881

Sure i spotted a death for Fanny 22 Apr 1901 - a few weeks after census?

There is still a Fanny with Elijah in 1911 and 1939.

I'm finding this thread very confusing, so apologies in advance if this is irrelevant.

3 January 1947, Diss Express

Quote
THE LATE MRS. F. ALLARD
The eight children (4 sons and 4 daughters) of the late Mrs. Fanny F Allard (widow of the late Mr. Elijah Allard, of Debenham) followed their mother to her last resting place, on Wednesday week, following a service in the Congregational Church, conducted by the Pastor (Rev. G. H. Vickers). In her 85th year, Mrs. Allard had been confined to her house some while and she was one of Debenham's oldest female inhabitants.

Family mourners were: William, Fredk., Stanley and Harry (sons) Nellie, May, Ivy and Rose (daughters); Messrs. Fred and Harry Cook, Harry Allard, Mrs. V. Lucas and Mrs. L. Gooch (grandchildren), Mrs. M. Woolard (niece);. Mr. W. Cook (son-in-law); Mrs. W. J. E. Allard and Mrs. F. Allard (daughters-in-law).

Others present were Mr. A. Muttock. Mrs. G. H. Vickers, Mrs. A. Collins. Mrs. Harold Rowe. Mrs. Eastall, Miss J. Cook, Mrs. F. Gillings, Mrs. Woolnough, Mr. and Mrs. Moy and Mrs. J. A. Cook.

That looks very relevant.
Elijah and Fanny had ten children - annoyingly most seem to prefer their middle names on censuses
William
Ellen (presumably Nellie, who married a Mr  Cook)
Arthur
Frederick
Robert d aged 1
Alice May
Ivy
Hubert Stanley
Harry
Rose (Elizabeth Rosetta)

Total 10, 9 mentioned as still living on Elijah's obit.
Looks like Arthur may have died before his mother, leaving 8 to attend her funeral.

I was recalling the year 1901 as year of death for Fanny Allard w/out checking my papers - apologies for the red herring. It was the 1947 funeral notice I had marked down.
