Robert Aitken Sim
« on: Sunday 04 June 23 11:32 BST (UK) »
At some time between the death of his first wife in 1916 and his own death in 1940, Robert Aitken Sim married Mabel Helen Vardon, born 12 October 1874 in St Helier, daughter of Philip George Vardon and Annie Jane Aubert. She apparently died in 1942. I have found her with her family in the census in every available year.

I've looked in Jerripedia for any information, but didn't find a marriage record. Can anyone suggest where else I might look?

And is it possible to access information in Jersey Archives on an ad hoc or pay-per-view basis, rather than becoming a full subscriber?

Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Perhaps you already have this?

There is a headstone in Mont a l'Abbe Cemetery, St Helier

Mabel Helen Sim age 67, date of death 3/2/1943

lots of Vardon names on the headstone, also Robert Aitken Sim died 12/12/1940

I found this at The Genealogist. I can extract full details if you wish.

Thank you. I knew they were in Mont à l'Abbé but I don't have the full details so that would be very useful.

I somehow accidentally appended it to my previous post.

The couple married either in the St Helier Registry Office or a Non Conformist Church/Chapel in the same parish between July 1919 and September 1922. The entry for the marriage is on page 28/100 of the index so approximately a quarter of the way through that time period.

You can access information on the Jersey Archive website on a pay per view basis but that is only cost effective if you want to view less that 6 documents. A one-off view is £5, a subscription is £30.
