Looking for Nelly / Nellie Stride in 1911
« on: Sunday 04 June 23 15:55 BST (UK) »
Nelly Stride was born on 16 Dec 1893 in Christchurch Hants - daughter of William Stride and Ellen nee Stay. Can anyone please find her in 1911? Not with her parents, probably in service somewhere.
She married in Christchurch in 1918 to a man who was born in Nottingham, but whose family was living in Bolton Lancs by 1921. I had wondered whether she was either in Nottingham or Bolton and that's how she met him, but not found her yet.

I think this might be her transcribed as Eden Stride

The original says Ellen.

Thank you very much, that definitely looks like her. I've viewed the image on FindMyPast. Really interesting that she was working for a Minister of the gospels who had two Chinese medical students visiting him.
Makes me want to try and find out more about the Minister and the two medics. Nelly had the first of two illegitimate children born on 15 July 1912, so may well have conceived her while working for John Samuel White.
