Maiden name of mother (HELP)
« on: Saturday 10 June 23 00:21 BST (UK) »
I could do with some assistance, please.
My great-grandfather was John Archibald Evans who was born on 7 April 1898 in Senghenydd, officially speaking the son of David and Elizabeth (Thomas) Evans. However, there are some suspicions that my grandmother had (it's a long story) about his mother's side. I wanted to double-check on the birth certificates if 'Thomas' indeed comes up as his mother's maiden name.

I think the child in 1901 might have been Trevor and he possibly died in 1910.  They had lost 8 children by 1911.

Sadly just because that's what it says on the certificate doesn't prove that it's true :(

Evans & Thomas are very common surnames in Wales.  If you wanted further proof of his parentage you would have to buy a copy of his birth cert

Why would anyone lie back then about an adoption, etc. Are you saying he could have been adopted?

Where can I find the name of the informant on the birth certificate?
