WW2 Personnel Records
« on: Saturday 10 June 23 23:34 BST (UK) »
Hi wondering if someone could point towards the right direction. I'm after my great uncle service record. He was in the Royal Artillery he died 6th November 1945 at a barracks in Huddersfield. He committed sucide so was buried in his hometown of Liverpool. I did think it was strange he was buried in his hometown until I got his death certificate and was saddened to see what had happened. Where can I get more information on his military record?.

Many Thanks

M :)

WW2 service records are in the process of being moved to the National Archives in Kew, and eventually being digitised I think.

There has been a bit of discussion about this on previous threads, with some confusion and mixed messages from the NA.

There is some information here https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records/apply-for-someone-elses-records with a link to the National archives further down the page.

Good luck.
