Hullo Kloumann,
The children of John Campbell and Catherine Horn were;  Catherine born October 1778 then Duncan born April 1782.  His Death certificate and indeed all references including Census' indicate he was born about 1794. Some years ago someone suggested the child born 1782 (Duncan) died and another male child as was the custom named Duncan.   Cannot find a reference confirming this.  Was he born in 1782 and baptised in 1794?

SP gives Duncan Campbell's birth year as 1782 but his death gives his age as 67 in 1861. Big difference?

That doesn't mean that it didn't happen. It was certainly the likely explanation that crossed my mind.

There's a death of a John Campbell, mmn Horn, in Govan in 1858, aged 58. Would it be worth checking that death to see if this is another sibling? Because if he is, then you know that at least one baptism of a child of John C and Catherine Horn is missing from the surviving records, and in that case, why not another one?

That wouldn't make any difference - in everything other than baptism records it's the year of birth that is most relevant.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Hi Forfarian,
Thanks for your reply. Found the Certificate (attached) on SC.  Buried Cathcart Cemetery. Mother Flora Horn.  Another Son indicated -- Duncan as Informant.  Could not find either son, Duncan or John on SC births. Still looking for a gravestone.   Although a different Mother will try to find more on this.
Could be related to Catherine Horn.
Regards

Could be. Or could be an error for Catherine or indeed another name.
