The letter was interesting. The author was Josiah Towyn Jones (Towyn bach) who rose from a farm lad (Gwas bach) to Junior Lord of the Treasury - not bad at all.
As with so many threads, I'm off at a tangent to check out Towyn bach! However, the Llyfrgell Genedlaethol Cymru is under maintence and access is difficult.

Translated from the Herald of Wales & Monmouthshire Recorder, 2 Jan 1915

"Plygain, Old Bethel, was held as usual Christmas morning and since the morning was fine, a host of people climbed as usual to the old place of worship, "some with lanterns, some with sticks/staffs" led as usual by Jacob Jones (Y Foel), as determined/purposeful as if a man in his prime."

He was 85 and Plygain started in the early hours of the morning
