Platt Brothers of Oldham
« on: Monday 12 June 23 10:33 BST (UK) »
Hi all, looking through the 1921 Census I can see that my great great grandfather George Halsall Jones is listed under profession as 'Textile Machine Planner (Retired) for Platts Brothers & Co Ltd'. His son, William Palmer Jones, was also working there in 1921 as a fitter.

I have heard before that there are lots of papers from Platts Brothers and wondered if anyone knew if these were online or how I would go about searching for him through them?

Thanks, Luke

Are they connected with the engineering firm Mather & Platt, which I remember from early Lancashire days?  I believe it started out making metal framework for the textile industry.
