Matthew MARCH
« on: Monday 12 June 23 20:52 BST (UK) »
Hello,

I am looking for records on my 4x great grandfather Matthew MARCH. He married my 4x great grandmother Frances ROBSON in Newcastle Upon Tyne on 6 Nov 1815. They had seven children; my 3x great grandmother Frances MARCH was born in 1826 in Newcastle.

Matthew's name is occasionally transcribed as MATTHIAS/MATHIAS.

Thank you

Is there any particular information you are hoping to find? Do you have Matthew on any census?

Have you seen the original marriage entry?

Who are the witnesses, they may give a clue

1851 Frances is widowed but her age is too young to be married in 1815.

I looked for a Death Reg 1837-1851 for Matthew/Matthias with no luck.

As a Mariner he may not appear on 1841 Census to see whether he is born in County or not.

A Burial/County of birth is the only way a Bapt would be easy to find for him.

So a difficult one.

Trish :)

The 1851 census also says her daughter Eliza is 35, so born when Frances was around 15, unless she's taken a few years off, but no particular reason to I would think.  :-\
