Hi all, thanks for the replies. Yes that is Francis Snape's family in Adlington. So far I cannot see a connection between this family and that of Leslie Edwin Snape.

Lavinia is my great grandmother and no she isn't the daughter of Francis Snape. Harriett's parents were William Henry (or Henry William) Chittleburgh and Lavinia Sheldon who married in 1870.

Francis Snape, 28, bachelor, contractor labourer, Park St Burton upon Trent, father Francis (deceased), corporation labourer. Harriet Louisa Chittleburgh, 23, spinster, Park St, father Henry William, publican. Witnesses were Harriet's sister and brother in law. Married by certificate.
