Thought only ladies name changed in the 1939 Register

Good evening I am just wondering why in the 1939 register for the Kervin family of Ellesmere Port, John Kervin 1904, his wife Rose Kervin 1898 2 people closed and Jack (John) Williams (Kervin) 1925. I will add that all these people have passed away.  I am helping my friend Ms Phillipart with her tree and I thought that John Williams married Mary Elizabeth Cohen and their daughter Christina Cohen
Williams married Thomas Hubert Phillipart - or have I got it all wrong again  Why did Jack Kervin change his name could he have been adopted?

Looking at the image, my reading of it is they've transcribed  Jack as Kervin  as he followed on from the other Kervins, and it's been corrected at the time (1939) to Williams (pen colour is the same). The writing itself is a bit smudged

Jack has replaced John at a later date - it's in green pen. There's a date in 1968 in green noting when that change was made

John Kervin & Rose Williams only married in 1931.  John/Jack was b 1925 so was born as Williams

John is only 14yrs old in 1939 & Christina Cohen Williams married Thomas Phillipart in 1940??
