Has Roots Chat had a data breach?
« on: Thursday 15 June 23 05:02 BST (UK) »
My son has been getting a lot of unwanted e mail addressed to him using a name he used here and only here. He has not been an active member for years
Its a bit of a nuisance and a worry.

I haven't had any strange emails purporting to be from Rootschat to date.  I do get all sorts of weird and wonderful ones from senders trying, presumably, to get personal details.

I find them annoying but most of the time delete them.  I didn't use to get so many but don't wish to change my email addy to get rid of them.  They will only pop up again some time in the future!  :(

Best way to check is to use the https://haveibeenpwned.com/ website.
