could. someone tell me if bristow is a common surname in lincs please...it might help solve a puzzle....thanks ???

Unfortunately I only know of the London darts player with that surname.

In case it helps, here's the origins and meaning:-

The name Bristow came to England with the ancestors of the Bristow family in the Norman Conquest of 1066. The Bristow family lived in Gloucestershire, where the name is derived from the Old English words byrst and stow and when combined mean place by the bridge.

Also where the place name Bristol comes from!
It's the Bristol L, or parasitic L, added to words ending in a vowel sound.

Plenty of Bristow births in Lincolnshire from 1838 onwards.

Putting in date range 1400-1700 on FreeREG for the surname Bristow

There are;
36 baptisms, 1st 1551
19 marriages , 1st 1580
21  burials, 1st 1664

There may be more with surname variants eg Bristowe etc

My wife has come across it in East Anglia with the variant Brister.
Researching among others:

It's a common name in the Goole & surrounding area.
