Looking for a birth record and parents names for my 4th great-grandmother MARY MATILDA LAWRENCE (abt. 1817), her son's death certificate states that his mother was born in Shelburne Co., Nova Scotia. One record states her mother's name is Mary.

She married William Peters in Richibucto, Kent Co., New Brunswick, Canada in 1845, I did find her marriage licence but William's relatives are witnesses. She (they) turn up in the 1851 census in St John, New Brunswick, Episcopalian, English, then in Hammond, Kings Co., New Brunswick in 1871 as farmers.

I posted this request once before but can't find it, hope this is not repetitive!

Have you checked Nova Scotia archives for which records exist eg when did BDM registration start? What's available before this date?
