1st wife and child
« on: Friday 16 June 23 18:04 BST (UK) »
Maybe a sensitive subject but found out that someone on my tree, whose now deceased and had no children with his 2nd wife, did have a child with his first.

Sadly both his first wife and child died in the WW2 during an air raid.    I have no name for the first wife nor the child.  However I feel it’s important that they aren’t forgotten and should take their place on the tree.

How is it best to start to look for them?   The person was born in 1918 so one would assume roughly speaking you be looking for a marriage between 1938 and the end of the war.  Apparently they died in a air raid so the child would
Have been a young child.

His 2nd marriage was in 1949.

Look for a first marriage for him to establish his wife's name & maiden name

www.freebmd.org.uk

Look for births with that maiden name

Use freebmd to look for deaths for both.

They may also be mentioned on www.cwgc.org in the Civilian deaths

Thanks for those suggestions I’ve searched and searched and I just can’t find them.  I was told his wife and son died in an air raid so although he was from Leicestershire they could’ve been anywhere in the country.

Could you name him so others can have a look?

Is this a family story that they passed away or is there other evidence of this.

Wow thanks so much for finding that.  Normans father was George Thomas Perkins.  I know Norman was a Dunkirk veteran.   This is great thanks I should now be able
To find their son.  So sad to think he lost his little family in an air raid.   Really appreciate your help
