John NEW of Wantage, Berks married Sarah WOTTON otp by licence at Marlborough, Wiltshire on 14 Jun 1812.

In 1861 I can see William NEW born Fawley as schoolmaster at Charlotte LATTER's boarding school at Bexley.  In 1851 he was a student at the Mill Road boarding school/academy in Bexley when Charlotte's husband Henry was alive and was the schoolmaster.  Someone would have had to pay for William to be there in 1851.

We have records showing that William was raised by another family member

Where do you think he was in 1841?  Is he the one with Henry and Sophia HAZELL in Shrivenham?  How are they related?

A William Hazel was one of the witnesses at Joseph NEW and Elizabeth HYDE's marriage in 1773 in Ashbury.

He was a witness at more that one marriage so may have been the parish clerk.

Where do you think he was in 1841?  Is he the one with Henry and Sophia HAZELL in Shrivenham?  How are they related?

It is the correct one, William NEW was the sole executor of Sophia's will when she died in 1889.

William HAZEL married Betty TOWNSHEND at Shrivenham on 14 Feb 1773.
