Baffled. 1939 England and Wales Register
« on: Saturday 17 June 23 16:14 BST (UK) »
Hi
I am a bit baffled by something on the 1939 Register. I am withholding their name as they are still living. :-X

The person is under school age and her birth name has been crossed out and replaced with her married name. She did not marry till 1955.

I have not come across this before. Did someone predict the future or is it normal practice to change the record.

I hope I make sense

Thanks

The 1939 register was used by the NHS until the early 1990's and updated by them.  They would have done the amendment for her married name

It is always good to know a bit about the records you are looking at.

If her entry is visible & she is still alive it should be reported

Thank you everyone for your help. I have learnt a lot today.

CaroleW. I am doing a family tree for a friend and assumed the person was still living. Just checked she died a while ago. (Must admit I did panic)  :o I now know why half the names are blanked out on the register.  ;D

Thank you all again for your help all your information will benefit me in future.
