Irish Army Census 1922
« on: Saturday 17 June 23 19:29 BST (UK) »
Hey all,

I was hoping someone might help me understand why this entry on the '22 Army Census is crossed out? There appears to be notation in the remarks column but it is slightly in the page fold.

https://census.militaryarchives.ie/pdf/Ballina_3_Western_Division_Western_Command_Page_22.pdf

Any help appreciated  ;D

Here's a wider shot of another record for context... is the following not a similar example (in this instance for a James Treacy), presumably cross referring the reader to a different regimental no. line?

Yes, exactly. It seems to be cancelled as a double entry - it is cross-referenced to another entry, the number of which is hidden in the fold.

Thanks for the help! That appears to be what it's referencing. I found the record in the Ballina entry book, and there was slight visibility from the other side of the fold, attached. Searching for the same details digitally yields no second results. I'm wondering where to begin the search for the matching entry.

Just wondering if you know what James Treacy's record was relating to? I'm not sure if I should be looking through the same post or the opposite side of the country!
