I know that quite some years ago such records were collected at Hull University ... and I seem to think they are now at the Hull History Centre.

Yes (maybe) ... The Hull History Centre is an archive and local studies library in Hull, England, that houses the combined collections of both the Hull City Council and Hull University archives and local studies resources.
Almeroth, Germany (probably Hessen). Mawer, Softley, Johnson, Lancaster, Tatum, Bucknall (E.Yorks, Nfk, Lincs)

Humberside police had a record of my immigrant Hanovarian gt. grandfather's arrival in Hull under the heading of "Alien" in 1864 when he was 10 years one day old.

Today I thought I might search for more immigrant "Aliens" but my search engine only found records of  UFOs (unidentified Objects) in the skies over Hull.
