Had surprise visits this week!
My daughters have come over for my (70th) birthday :D

It's been a real pleasure spending time with them.

That’s a shame, short sighted of them too not to have the information readily available.

We keep getting repeated 'phone calls from United Futilities, there's apparently a big water leak, they've been telling us about it for days ... then it's okay ... then it's being worked on.... then the water's back on...
It simply is never-ending! On the turn-off the water has raised the tarmac of the footpath an inch or two, and is flowing out like a weir over the kerb, then over the road and filling the gutters.
Water meters anyone?

I had a visit from my apprentice time travel detective

He wasn't able to help me with wills from 1740s as he's dyslexic
A 1941 one was too difficult for him too .

I've got To make a list of tasks that he will be able to do .

Meanwhile I've been taking it easy after collapsing at a fete on Sunday.

It's pouring with rain ..I took liberty of taking 2 of my upstairs neighbours shirts off washing line + left them on stairs
They work shifts so may be asleep
Is that an ok thing to do ?

Well it was a kind thought Brigidmac.

I am again not getting notification of new posts. ???

Lovely day again, did a big clear out of the big garden storage trunk,it has let water in but mind you after the terrific storms just lately ——-
I will have to,put many of the very many plant pots by the gate saying “ free to a good home!”
Lots more weeding down the side the house done , all pristine now .

Sad about the little submarine ,at noon there was a slight chance it could be found and maybe the people in it still alive, but the description of it — well Heath Robinson came to mind.
Millionaires aboard and as someone pointed out today ,so many people lost at sea ,many escaping tyranny etc and not so much coverage about those tragedies ,so why about millionaires ?

Well ,must put stuff away then to watch the Viking programme.
Then a bath, all aches and pains.

Viktoria.
Thanks for the news folks

Victoria .the neighbour was grateful !

Kind of you to give away your plant pots people will make good use of them .

Threl I like your joke name of United  Futilities

Everyone who's see grandchildren lucky you .
My great nephews & honorary grandchildren
 are quite far away .
But I find young people a breath of fresh air .

Being unable to help me with research today my young friend has offered to bring me home made smoothie next time... to fuel my brain !

He's 20 ...he helped a friend with her bookstall on Saturday+ stayed night on her sofa ..
Without telling his father ....who called the police because he was a missing vulnerable person !

Oh dear
. today if you don't answer your mobile or calls don't go thru  people panic

My sister + flatmate once called ambulance 🚑 + forced door open because we're convinced I'd fainted inside the flat .as I'd set out in morning to Doc about a previous fainting fit .+ Door appeared to be locked from inside

Phone calls + messages went unanswered because I was charging  it upon one of those shopping centre booths

Well, all five people in the little submarine are dead,an implosion ,right at the start of the descent seemingly would leave no survivors .
Very sad , and no less so for their families, as with others lost at sea.
Money does not ease sadness, it helps with financial needs of course, but not much else.
What an adventure though ,to see The Titanic .
We visited the exhibition of artefacts etc at Manchester Museum of Science and Industry .
The part of the ship which was damaged by the iceberg was quite a lot thinner than other parts, what a great tragedy the iceberg did  not make contact just a few yards further along, it might not have breached the hull.

Just watching a programme about Vikings ,reminded me of a day trip to Rhyl I think ,for the Sunday School .About this time of year 1964.
Parents could go too and as my husband had just got back from a two month business trip to India ,we went with our two little boys .
They loved Noggin the Nog ,on B&W TV.
Oliver Postgate .
The boys saw some Viking outfits and asked if they could have them ,well yes .tabard, round shield, sword and a helmet with horns .
They wore them  on the walk home from Church where the return coach journey stopped.Waved swords about etc .
A Summer evening just going dusk.
The boys were” lively” after a couple of hours ‘ coach journey .
Passing a pub , it was dusk, near closing time ( earlier in those days ) a group of men came out just as we were approaching ,one must have been three sheets to the wind- “ What the %@££@&£ are they! ? “ And rushed back into the pub .
Everyone else was laughing !
We were helpless ,the boys a bit puzzled , but as one man said” He will sign the pledge now for sure!”
We still have one helmet , minus horns .
Oh happy days!
Viktoria.
