Hi John - you've found a few kids there I didn't know about - Mary, Martin and Michael. Where did you find records with their mother's mn? These kids must have died because they never came to the US with them

Thanks John - that's very helpful!

Anyone any idea why Patrick, Margaret and their two young sons would have returned to England in 1867 for about two years before coming back again to the US for good?

Penn Station (in New York City) seems to have been built in 1910. There is also a Penn Station in Pittburgh, Penna., also known as Union Station.

However, both seem to have opened long after 1867.

In 1870, the family were living in Penn Borough, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
However,  they had been back and forth to England since James’ birth so not necessarily his birthplace.

That would make more sense. Penn Township, Westmoreland Co., Penna. is east of Pittsburgh. Someone in England, years later, wouldn't have been familiar with township divisions found in U.S.
