David Evans of Ystradgynlais
« on: Monday 19 June 23 19:53 BST (UK) »
David EVANS was the owner of a foundry in Ystradgynlais and, apparently, an Alderman.
His daughter, Harriet Maude (known as Maude), married my grandfather's cousin, Edward Albert (Bert) BEER.
I am trying to find out more about her family to add to the story of Bert's life.
Maude was born on 14th August, 1885. I have her mother's maiden name as LLEWELLYN, but I have found other names suggested on FamilySearch.
Bert was in the army, but transferred to the reserves before they were married on 29th October, 1912. They obtained permission to emigrate to Australia, where their daughter, Annie Gwendoline (Gwen) was born in 1913 but, at the outbreak of war, he was recalled to the regiment and was killed in 1917. Gwen gave me the information about her mother's death in Sydney.

Thank you
I have found a couple of pictures online, lent by a member of his family, showing the David Evans foundry on the site of the old ironworks.
