Note the following reference:

David Ferguson, b Ballygoney; educ OCB GC 184; lic Tyrone 3 Dec 1844; Bealderig, Mayo 1848-54; ord Portlaw 3 May 1854; Dr. W.J.S. Dickey' Orkney, was a son-in-law; d 8 Feb 1887.

My link to the family is that David's daughter, Sarah Sophia Ferguson, married James Halcro Johnston of Orkney (in 1887). Two of Sarah's sisters, Davidina and Lavinia ended up in Orkney with her.

The Orkney connection probably started with Rev Dickey, the husband of Elizabeth Ferguson being made Minister of Birsay parish in Orkney by 1880 (They married in Waterford in 1878) and their first child John was born in Mayo in 1879. Their second son William was born in Orkney)

My head is spinning! ... Still catching up but will get lost if I don't post some updates

Marriage of an Andrew Ferguson, Ballygonney gives his father as Andrew Ferguson
However, John Stewart Ferguson who married in 1871 was full age (born before 1850).
Could John Stewart Ferguson be a brother of Andrew (d.1886) and thus also a brother of Rev. David Ferguson?

I thought that is was more likely that Andrew, brother of Rev David had two sons - Andrew and John Stewart, the two marriages are 12 years apart.

There also appears to be Rachel that married John Davidson Weir in 1869 .. she is also a daughter of Andrew and being born 1840 is the previous generation to Nurse Rachel that died in WW1 - d of John Stewart

A witness to the marriage of Rachel Ferguson and John D Weir was Martha Collins

One of the children of John Stewart and Annie was John Weir Ferguson b24/01/1881

Wondering if there is a line of Andrew Fergusons

Top level I have James Ferguson, possibly the one that died 09/03/1824
James has two sons, Andrew 1802-1866 and Rev David 1816-1887

Andrew marries Anna - 1802-1871
Children of Andrew and Anna - John Stewart (b1837), Rachel (b1840 married Weir 1869) and possibly Andrew

Their (possible) son Andrew married Annie Hamilton in 1859
Andrew and Annie has at least 1 son b1865 and a daughter called Nancy Ann b1869

The Andrew that died in 1919 age 56, would have been born in 1863 and had a brother Thomas
Andrew and Thomas could be sons of Andrew and Annie

No. Andrew Ferguson who married Anne Hamilton & father of Nancy Ann (1869) lived at Ballygoney. Andrew Ferguson (d.1919) with brother Thomas lived at Tamlaght
Father of Andrew Ferguson, Tamlaght, also Andrew died 1897-
