Peters, William
« on: Tuesday 20 June 23 21:08 BST (UK) »
Is this enough proof or do I require more?

My William Peters born 1819 in England on census records. I found a baptismal record for William Peters born Folkestone, Kent, England in 1819, to Henry & Mary (Standing) Peters.

I also found the Peter's, Henry & Mary (Standing) Peters, family of Folkestone, Kent, England as witnesses to the marriage of my William Peters in Weldford, Kent Co, New Brunswick, Canada in 1845.

What else do I need to prove this connection?

Does the marriage record show his father's name? Are there any details on his death or burial records that may give further clues?  :D

If Henry PETERS of Folkstone, Kent who died 1867 in New Brunswick was William's father, I wonder why he is not listed on this find a grave tree (which may not be accurate of course).

The first witness at his wedding is Henry Peters and the second is John Kinread he is the husband of Ann Peters (daughter of Henry Peters).

Henry's children Mary, Benedicta and Charles are not listed in his obit but their deceased son John is.

William's bap record 6 Feb 1820, parents Henry & Mary Peters in the same place all his other children were baptized.

William's obit is of no help.

Forgot to mention William & Mary married in Richibucto Mary's home, and William is from Weldford, Kent, NB.  Weldford is where Henry Peters got his land grant, a small town outside Richibucto.

Their oldest son was baptized in Weldford in 1847, then in 1851 they moved to St John, St John Co, NB working as a labourer then milkman, then on to Hammond, Kings Co., NB in 1871, as farmers where they passed away.

I would think the second witness (with a more unusual name) being the husband of William's sister is pretty good evidence.

You probably know of the Genealogical Proof Standard

It looks to me like you can make a solid arguement.  :D
