Thomas Blagburn burial
« on: Tuesday 20 June 23 21:55 BST (UK) »
I’m searching for burial or cremation information for my 2nd great grandfather, Thomas Blagburn. He died 15th January 1942 at Newcastle City Mental Hospital (now St. Nicholas), Newcastle upon Tyne. His family lived at 652 & 654 Scotswood Road in Elswick. Any ideas of where to look or even start would be much appreciated!

Thanks Alan. I was able to find funeral announcements/ obituaries for most of my other relatives. I wonder if they kept his low key/ didn’t announce because of where he died :(

Looking at Google maps for Scotswood Road AND St Nicholas Hospital, then perhaps Newcastle West Road Cemetery and Crematorium might be a starting point.  :-\
Transcriptions and NBI are merely finding aids.  They are NOT a substitute for original record entries.

Boo you are a star! Thanks so much! Address is different to his death cert and also 1939 register - will have to do some digging as to which of his family was at 108 George’s road now!

Amazing :) I’ll get in touch with Newcastle bereavement services to find out if there is a plot reference and marker or not.

No, sorry, the Graves Register shows it was an unpurchased grave  so its very unlikely to have a headstone.
There are 3 other people buried in that plot who , at first glance, don't appear to be related, though you would know better than I.

Added , the plot reference is within the burial register, Unconsecrated Section W, grave 61 - see the right hand side of the first image I posted
