Thanks so much for this Boo. Really appreciate the help.

Margaret O’Connell is his daughter. She committed suicide - I always though in Ireland - I didn’t know she was buried close to home.

The others are unrelated.

According to that Grave Register , Margaret's burial entry was no 80932, so if you go backwards from Thomas' entry you can find hers which will give you her address at time of death

As it just a year earlier go back about 10 pages at a time using the image no xxx of xxx box at the top left. Once you get in the ball park then look for 80932

Thank you. I found her straight away once I searched in England rather than Ireland.

Thanks Boo. Can I ask how you access the Evening Chronicle? I’m searching BNA but I can’t find the funeral notices that you have shared. Not sure what I’m doing wrong!

and this looks quite possible to be Thomas' widow, Isabella
Deaths Q1 1958 Newcastle T. Isabella Blagburn, age 79

Newcastle Evening Chronicle
17 Mar 1958, page 17 col 3
Deaths

BLAGBURN North Kenton 14 Redlands Ave (late of Strickland Street)
on March 16 aged 79 years Isabella beloved wife of the late Thomas.
Cremation West Road Newcastle Wednesday 1 pm, leaving residence 12.30 pm.
Friends please meet at Crematorium.

There is an index to West Road Cremations on Family Search (to see the registers you'd need to go to Tyne and Wear Archives) and that does have an entry for her
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3QHV-L3VC-G4CL?

So her entry in the Register is 55323 and her cremation was on 19th March 1958.

Thanks Boo. Can I ask how you access the Evening Chronicle? I’m searching BNA but I can’t find the funeral notices that you have shared. Not sure what I’m doing wrong!

The scans of the old newspapers often leave a lot to be desired and the OCR, even more often, garbles the synopsis so a name search doesn't always bring up results.

For each of the notices I have transcribed I've given the info help you pinpoint the newspaper, date and page
So if have a ball park date from burial registers/ certs I would specify the search criteria
as the relevant newspaper, the date of death/burial and then look a day at a time for a few days after death or a few days before burial.

and then I often find what I am looking for.
If I only have a year and a quarter and really want to see if there's an entry I sometimes go through the newspaper day by day for the entire quarter. Its very time consuming but (for me) worth it if I find what I wanted.
- though your query was fairly straightforward and I didn't have to look at more than a couple of days for any of them.

so if you have a sub to BNA (or, as I have, to FindMyPast) then leave the search words boxes blank.Use the other filters to specify the County/Place/Newspaper and then specify the date

and because the scans are often unclear, you need to learn to decipher black blobs, letters so faint you struggle to make them out.

All of which can be a pain, but worth it for that YESSSS! moment when you get what you need.

Give it a try if you get stuck, shout out and I'll try to help.
