Marriage says he was 'of Southolme' - also mentions they were both of the Parish of Gainsborough

Possible baptism on 6th September 1732 in Gainsborough to father John. Agree with Rosie that his burial record may provide clues.

Hi to you both.
No. I haven't found his death yet. There seem to be a few William Cobb's.

Where did you get the info about where he was from on his marriage, Rosie99?

Thanks.

Image of Marriage Banns/Marriage on FindMyPast
The first line says
Banns of marriage between Wm Cobb of Southolme and Elizabeth Johnson both of this parish.

I assume 'Southolme' is an area or house name in Gainsborough

Yes, in the 19th century it was identified as a rather prosperous area of town with a road (Southolme) running through it.

Thank you.
Doing this tree for my friend. I can tell her that part of her family were prosperous 🤣
Particularly interesting as ancestors of the other side of the family had been imprisoned for nine days in the mid 1800s for stealing a chicken 😱
