Help with finding a marriage and/or death for Emma Bellamy
« on: Friday 23 June 23 11:42 BST (UK) »
Hello, me again.

I'm now tracing the story of Emma Holmes Bellamy, one of James and Sarah's daughters.

I've managed to find her in 1861, 1871 and 1881, although are 2 Emma Bellamys born in Boston around the same time.

I cannot find Emma after 1881 so have been looking for either a marriage or a death. Its a bit trick as I'm unsure of whether she is using Emma Bellamy or Emma Holmes. However all the census returns she is Emma Bellamy so have to assume that is the name being used.

In 1881 she is living in Gainsborough, working as a barmaid.

Ive found a death of 4th November 1896 for an Emma Bellamy but no specifics other than Lincolnshire of where this might have happened.

Theres also a death of an Emma Bellamy in Grimsby in 1924. But I cant find her in 1891, 1901 or 1911 to see if she may have moved up to that area.

Any help or other places I could would be much appreciated.

Thank you

In 1883 she married the innkeeper (Henry Marsden) that she was working for in 1881 at the Horse & Jockey in Gainsborough.

Henry Marsden's first wife had died on 2 January 1882 aged 38 (Stamford Mercury 6 January 1882 page 1).

Henry himself died on 29 April 1884 aged 51 (Stamford Mercury 2 May 1884, page 1)

Oh my goodness. That's amazing. Thank you so very much.  That's really rounded off Emma's story for me. Ive done Sarah's story so now working through those of her children.

Only married for a year too.

Interesting she lists her father as James Bellamy, it of course being Holmes and as a gentleman.

I wonder why she then headed to Blackpool.

Where did you find the information for 1921 please?
