1809 Baptism from India
« on: Sunday 25 June 23 20:58 BST (UK) »
Dear Rootschat users,

I am seeking a pair of better eyes for this 1809 baptism.

I have transcribed it as:

(top part not in image)

Masulipatnam. This is to certify that Ann daughter of Robert and Cicela Pamby, born 20th Oct[obe]r 1808 was baptised by me according to the form of a public baptism laid down in the rubic of the Church of England this 17th day of April 1809. Signed C. Bathurst Chaplain. Sponsors John Rimsnll (?) Ether Lynd [&] Leonard Kimmall.

I'm not sure about the names at the end and the part I have as 'rubic'.

Thank you in advance.

"rubic" is, I think "rubric" - a set of instructions.

As the child is female, it would be usual to have one male and two female godparents.  I think the two women are Esther Lynch and Leonora - the same surname as John.  Possibly Kinswell, but I am not confident.

Thanks - I will go for John Kinswell, Esther Lynch, Leonora Kinswell.

The names Kingswell does occur in India.
