Yes, good idea. I’m tied up now but I might try that tomorrow. Thanks.

There is a family in 1861, living in Liff, Benvie and lnvergowrie.
I can’t view the page, only a transcription but it is Margaret Pater, b  1828, Roscommon. Her husband is John and they have 3 young children.
 Is this Margaret?

Thanks. It would make sense given that the other sister was born in Roscommon. I'll check with my cousin in the morning.

The 1861 Census that Heywood mentions is her. By then she'd had five children, but two had died, so there are three on the Census. They had another child the following year. I think we have to assume she was born in Roscommon, and I can just about believe the clip I posted says Kilcorkery.

Thanks for all your help.

Geoff

In the 1961 Census it the spelling is Pater not Peters.
It says...........Margaret was from Roscommon, looking at the townlands list the nearest to the spelling is possibly this one............

Thanks. My cousin and I agree Kilcorkery in Roscommon is the answer. I hunted through the NLI parish lists for her baptism without success and even took a one-day subscription to rootsireland.ie, but I guess if the original is lost then it won’t turn up anywhere.
