Holmes Bellamy family of Billinghay/Coningsby/Walcott/Boston
« on: Wednesday 28 June 23 15:51 BST (UK) »
Just wondering if there is anyone else active on here that has Sarah Holmes of Billinghay or James Holmes of Walcott in their trees?

With lots of help I've found the 2nd oldest daughter, Emma and followed her story until her death. I know the story of Roseanna as she is my great great grandmother. I have some information on Matthew, through other people's family trees.

However the oldest daughter Susan and the youngest daughter Ann Rebecca are proving somewhat elusive and wondering if there is anyone else on here that has been searching for them and probably has further information that they are willing to share

That post is my post  :)

Its a little tricky as to who she was. Her mother was a Bellamy and her father a Holmes and they never married. My great great grandmother Roseanna is the first one I think of the 5 children who were registered at birth with Holmes being a middle name. The father's name isn't on the birth certificate but she lists James Holmes as her father on her marriage certificate, as does Emma I believe.

I think Susan goes by just Bellamy, rather than Holmes as I haven't been able to find anywhere were she refers to herself as Holmes Bellamy.

As far as Ann Rebecca goes. I have a birth date of January 1858 in Sutton St James. The last piec of information I have for her is living in Back Lane, Coningbsy with her aunt and uncle, Jesse and Susan Clifton, aged 3.

Ann Rebecca's birth registered is under Holmes Bellamy in Holbeach 1858

Thank you - yes I believe that they were all registered as that. I know that their mother Sarah pettitioned James Holmes , farmer of Walcott for maintenance of Emma in a bastardy hearing, so that led me to believe that he was the father to all 5 children even though they never married?

Matthew Bellamy's marriage 17 Oct 1875 in Lincoln to Sarah Ann Pask gives his father as John Bellamy, farm bailiff, deceased.

Oh wow thats interesting.

Betsy seems to be another sister of Sarah then that I didn't know about. I shall have to go and do some further research down that road. I only have a brother Richard and sisters Mary and Susannah. That gives her a birth year of around 1819 then.

So Ann looks like she is over in Wigtoft then? These girls certainly move around.

Matthew - I knew that he married a Sarah Pask as I have been in contact with a descendent of the Pask family.
