Charles Haldon in Dysart death 1842
« on: Saturday 01 July 23 07:06 BST (UK) »
I'm just wondering if there is any more information I could gain about Charles Haldon who died on 6th March 1842 in Dysart, Fife.  He was "intered from hedge 16 yds and from West dyke 6 yds".
It does not give an age.  Any chance I could find out anymore about this fellow?  Tks.
I am wondering whether his surname could also be written as Haddon/Hadden or Halden.

The death record below is on SP, as I am sure you know.

HALDON   CHARLES   DIED   06/03/1842   426   110 / 65   DYSART

According to the information on Old Parish Records, deaths at Dysart, 1818 – 1854 came from the
Kirk Session records. (Sinclairtown) New Church?

On 5th March 1742 there is a note in the Kirk Session Accounts.

“By paid John Thomson to keep C Hadden £3: 10?

I do not see Charles on the 1841 census at Dysart but there are 47
HA*D*N’s.

Between 1760 & 1840 there were only 2 marriages for Charles in Scotland.

CHARLES HADDON married ELIS. PATERSON 19/10/1807 DUNDEE

CHARLES HADDON married ANN SALMON 13/12/1833 DUNDEE

However I cannot find any other information on SP for both of the above?

Seems a lot of money £3.10s. to keep C. Hadden.    ....  Interesting.

Is there a quick way of researching more in the Kirk Session records?  I might find more information on C. Hadden if I take my time looking through the records.

The records at Dysart are reasonably clear but I have not found a quick way on any occasion that I have tried to search them, I think the one on Charles was one of my very few successes.
It is strange that there are no birth records of children for the two marriages in Scotland or as far as I can see in England.
