Hello Lisa
Many thanks  and to everyone for their help.
The 1870 Census for Peter Proctor (Farmer), I think is the one I'm looking for.
He was married to Janet Mann in Scotland.  He was on the 1851 Census but not on 1861 Census but on 1871 Census which means he must have come back to Scotland although I can't find him on any Passenger list
I think the other Peter, married to Barbara, may have been related somehow but I'm still researching

A possibility for your Peter PROCTOR, sale of "Farm Stocking, Implements of Husbandry, and Household Furniture" at Braehead Farm, Elches, Parish of Knockando, in occupation of Peter PROCTOR in 1858.
Friday,  May 7, 1858
Publication: Elgin Courier

Modified to add:
Sorry, probably not - I see on the 1851 census Peter PROCTOR of Braehead is married to an Isabella.

Didn't realise there would be so many Peter PROCTOR's born c1815.

I see on the 1871 census at Califer Hill, Elgin that Peter and Janet's daughter Harriet, born c1865 is born Pluscarden, so at least Janet was back in Scotland then.

Is this Janet in 1861 - at Califer Croft, daughter Agnes and son John at least have mmn MANN.
https://www.freecen.org.uk/search_records/5903deb9e9379091b10f7962

And according to Scotland's People, Margaret PROCTOR, born 3 July 1852, daughter of Peter PROCTOR and Janet MANN.

These are the children of Peter PROCTOR and Janet MANN that I can find on Scotland's People:

1839  Elizabeth  (Rafford)
1841  Jess  (New Spynie)
1844  Richard (New Spynie)
1845  James  (New Spynie)
1852  Margaret  (Elgin)
1854  Harriet Cruikshanks  (Elgin)
1856  John (Forres)
1861  Agnes Macintosh (Forres)

I can't seem to find Alexander (born c1849, Kingloss), Peter (born c1850, Alves) or Elizabeth (born c1868, Forres) according to the censuses. Although mother Janet would be getting quite old to still be having children in 1868, even considering that her age does fluctuate a bit through the censuses.

There are 2 Peter PROCTOR's baptised in Moray c1815:

30/05/1815  Peter PROCTOR, son of James PROCTOR and Janet ANDERSON,  at Birnie
(presumably this is one who dies 1895 in Baltimore, if the birth date on findagrave is correct.)

03/07/1814  Peter PROCTOR, son of Alexander PROCTOR and Elisa FINDLAY, at Dundurcas, Rothes
(this could be the one who marries Isabella INKSON on 29/05/1847 at Knockando, though you would need to see the certificate to be sure.)

Do you have the marriage certificate of Peter PROCTOR and Janet MANN , 08/06/1839 (Rafford)? Who does it have for Peter's father?

Just trying to work out all the Peter PROCTORs  :D - I'm assuming this is wife Janet in 1841 at Spynie, with daughter Elizabeth and William MANN (9), no Peter PROCTOR with them:

He's hard to track down isn't he.

Modified to add:
There is this possibility for Peter PROCTOR, not born in County, aged 20 (rounded to nearest 5) at Ardclach, Nairn "travelling servant" (some 24 miles from Elgin)  :-\

For interest - is this Peter and Janet's son Peter in Gray's Hospital in 1861? (10 year old herdboy)

I don't have a marriage certificate in 1839 only the old parish records.
Before 1855 it wouldn't show parents names

Oh, of course, you're right, getting my dates and countries mixed up.  :-[  If it were me and I had unlimited funds (which I don't!) I might use some credits to look at the parish record for the 1839 marriage - just in case there is any other information that may help.
