Not quite sure why you are associating those forenames with Methodism.  :-\

I wasn't associating them with Methodism. What I meant is, that Methodism was the largest non-Anglican body in England in those days, though it didn't formally separate from the Church of England till somewhat later. I meant that, as there doesn't seem to have been a Methodist presence, maybe there were Baptists or Quakers to whom the family may have belonged.

In my tree, there are many Johns and Abrahams (both Biblical names), starting from 1550.
But the family were staunchly Anglican - including a number of vicars.
