Llettywilws, Pontyberem (Llannon)
« on: Tuesday 04 July 23 10:49 BST (UK) »
Hello

I am looking for any details on the family(ies) living at the above address in 1911 or earlier census(es). I believe it may have been a Thomas family. Possibly John Thomas 1862 Abergwill/Llannon, possible children Gwyn and Tom have also been mentioned.

Thank you

That’s brilliant thank you. They are at 1 Bryn Cottage, Pontyberem in 1911.

Thank you also for the tip re ancestry and FindMyPast. found it on FindMyPast in 1911 correctly transcribed but I don’t subscribe. With the new information I have also found it on Ancestry, incorrectly transcribed. Trying to find Welsh place names is always difficult due to a combination of incorrect transcription and often anglicisation of the names. Trying it out on Ancestry and I am finding putting lots of ‘wildcards’ “*’s” into the search name helps. I am using Ancestry’s Search All Records and then Places you ancestors might have lived option. I presume this is the correct approach?  I don’t know if Ancestry’s cataloging of place names is as through as FindMyPast’s. They don’t seem to promote it and I wonder if it is restricted to just 1881 and 1911 on Ancestry?
