Burial Records Gifford
« on: Tuesday 04 July 23 15:20 BST (UK) »
Hello Rootschatters

Please could you help me as I'm having a mental blank !

On behalf of a friend I've been researching his relatives death in Gifford 1906.

I have found lots of information but wanted to complete the task by finding his grave.

I have looked at find a grave and deceased online and not found him.

I've also looked at The British Newspaper Archives death notices with no result.

I think the family wouldn't have been particularly well of so there may not be a headstone.

Would MI's be the next step or can burial records be accessed ?

Thanks

Is this the death of Robert Meikle aged 13?

The burial records will be in the care of East Lothian Council.

Having looked at https://www.eastlothian.gov.uk/info/210565/birth_marriage_and_death/12122/burial_services/1 I'd be surprised if they are able to do lookups at the moment.
Never trust anything you find online (especially submitted trees and transcriptions on Ancestry, MyHeritage, FindMyPast and other commercial web sites) unless it's an image of an original document - and even then be wary because errors can and do occur.

Sadly no🤣  I looked at your previous post about the boy who died 1906 eating something poisonous & checked that his death was in Gifford
