Re FindMyPast, if you pull up the Census "Advanced Search" screen it specifies the fields required when searching by reference number.

1911 and 1921 saw a significant change.

Thanks HT, but what is the convention for the highly abbreviated form, something like (this is made up)?

1851-1901 specifies Piece, Folio, Page
1911-1921 - all change

I was looking at old maps web sight (nls.uk)

The surveyed 1848 - published 1853 map - across Steeton beck at the South of back Steeton Hall is Elmsley House by the church and later by the revised 1906 published 1909 map - ELmsley House is called High Hall- Thus who lived in High hall in the 1891 census

Click on the Black & White maps on right of web page that comes up from link by accending years from 1848/1853 map ( close the little map finder box that pops up  to lighten the page)
