Marriage in Sheffield? - Marrison/Salmon ?
« on: Wednesday 05 July 23 17:48 BST (UK) »
Free BMD records the birth of Charles Herbert Marrison in Jun Q 1857: Sheffield 9c/284 mmn Salmon.

Family gossip handed down the years mentions John Marrison born c.1798 who married 'Alice' and they had a son Charles Herbert.   Alice's surname is unknown and I've had no success in finding a marriage record for a Marrison/Salmon.  Perhaps there was no marriage?

Family folklore also adds that John Marrison had a previous marriage in the 1820's to a lady also named Alice (surname unknown)  with children including Thomas, Richard Martha, Elizabeth born in the 1830s.

Grateful for some help in putting some flesh on the bones from these basic facts.

Thanks Rosie, yes this is Charles Herbert's marriage record.    Let's see what can be found about his parents and his father's earlier marriage.

Alice was too old to have had a son in 1857

Would suggest the way forward would be to buy a copy of his birth cert & see what parents names are given.  PDF copies are available for that period so only £7 instead if £11

Found a death for Alice 1854 but cannot see which marriage matches as Salmon (mmn)
