Find My Past have a transcription of Sussex burials and have a John Weston as follows:

Name: John Weston
Birth Year: 1790
Age: 75 yrs
Death Year: 1865
Burial Year: 1865
Burial Date: 29 May 1865
Description: Cade St, Independent
Place: Heathfield
County: Sussex
Country: England
Notes: Warbleton

I looked at the Sussex Advertiser and as you said in your first post, he died on the 12 March aged 79 years.

Like all replies, no sign of his entry in the GRO

Thanks for this, AllanUK.  As noted, burial date a long time after the death!

Kind of interesting too, I visited that churchyard in Heathfield many years ago with my mother.  Her grandparents, who she had lived with as a girl, are buried there.  They lived on Cade Street too and she was born there.

Thanks for looking but that John is too old to be mine, he is 86, and the newspaper announcement for my John is from 1865.
Yes, he is living in Warbleton with son-in-law Jabez Errey and his daughter Mary Weston Errey as well as Jabez' father. (I was lucky to get the two fathers with their children.)

It does seem curious not finding a death registration. The death notice being a little late whilst unusual is not uncommon.

You possibly have seen this already - He sold his business in High St, St Anne's Lewes in 1853 to P and T MARTIN.
 Tuesday,  Oct. 25, 1853
Publication: Sussex Advertiser

Is the sale of property in Chiddingly and Hellingly, (deceased estate of John WESTON) related to your John? eg:
Tuesday,  June 13, 1865
Publication: Sussex Advertiser

Should there be a Will to find for your John WESTON, died 1865?

From the death notice   "...John WESTON, 79, formerly Lewes, miner...."

I do not read that to mean that he is a 79 year old miner, but if he owned property and left an estate, would his daughter identify him as a miner?

The actual clip says Miller (not miner)  as per Diana’s post. #2
