I note that Charles is on the 1851 census. Also present his children John 33, James 31. Also Janet 40, Elizabeth 48 and Margaret 48. I guess you have seen the original.

There is also this census in 1861.

However I think he is with a different family, so when did the Charles on the 1851 census die?
