I can tell you that the divided back postcard was introduced in the USA in 1907.

Sure. I was avoiding posting it before because was interested in the S.D.P. company and didn't want the discussion to centre on the subject of the photo.

It's been handed down through family and was believed to be a certain James Baker, ship's captain... but James was born in 1837 and this man looks like he's dressed for the 1910s or 1920s... and James died in 1912.

I'm not sure where to look next for help with my photographic postcard - any ideas?
Figure out what kind of uniform that is. Someone on here might know, I don't. And the shoes might be a clue.

The writing looks like it was to someone named Raul from someone named Ernesto. Google translate says "Saluda" means "Hello". I couldn't get anything that made sense from "Zesaro whatever" - is that "te" or "y"  ?

The right side says Mailings, acc. to Google translate.  and the date is November 24, of 1922. Which leaves out James Baker, ship's captain.

And it was never mailed.

Have you looked for "Quality Straco Card" ? - that would differentiate this printer from the others who used S.D.P. Company's supplies.

The reverse of the postcard I originally posted was from a different card, not this one. Randomly, the National Library of Chile has a collection of them, it belongs to that.

The reverse of my card is completely blank and never posted.

Then you'd have to go with the clothing suggestions. Some people on rootschat are pretty good at dating clothes, so maybe one of them will see this.
meanwhile, in case yours says Straco also,
Straco has something to do with the printing process, not an individual printer.

Is there anything at all on the back of yours? Absolutely blank except for SDP etc?
