how do I locate a death record, queensland,  from after 1997?

A 1997 death is not considered 'historical'.  Queensland death records are closed to the public for 30 years from the date of the event.  This is pretty much the same in all States.

Conditions you have to meet to apply for a death cert within the last 30 years.

Click on 'yes' for 'was the death registered in Queensland?' then the 'view the access policy to check' link will appear.  You may qualify if you meet any of those relationship criteria.
