The 1841 census doesn't record relationships but it looks like he's a lodger.

I think a lodger with the family because a single slash separates him from the others listed above him in the household.

I'd agree with ShaunJ.  Looking at the original page there is a / between the Lawrence family and William's entry, with the // after his name denoting the end of that household.

There is a marriage entry for Giles Lawrence (bachelor) and Priscilla Slatter (widow) - 23 January 1826.  Transcription only on FindMyPast.  Image on Ancestry.

Modified again:  Is Priscilla's surname Slatter (as transcribed) or Statter  :-\ :-\

AND

Burial at Wick, 8 August 1822 - Richard Slatter - aged 25
