Location in India or Indonesia?

I think this was taken either during or shortly after WWII because it was with photos of my father’s RAF service. He was in England for the first year or so, then in India and (after the fall of Japan) the Dutch East Indies. Maybe tram wires at left? It may provide a clue to where he was stationed.

Thanks for this. I now recall that he used to talk about Batavia. He used to want to go back to visit. I don’t think he’d have liked the modern Jakarta though.
