Missing death record?
« on: Friday 14 July 23 21:02 BST (UK) »
Hello, I can't find any record of death for my relative.

Catherine/Kate/Cissie Cameron (nee. Houston)
Spouse: Peter Cameron (married 25 May 1895, Govan)
Born: 30 Jan 1866 Greenock
Lived at Harmony Row, Govan from 1895 until at least 1903, which is the year she had the last child that I know about. Children were Helen, Peter, David-Andrew, and Catherine.

She died before 1917 (marked as deceased on her childs wedding certificate).

I've searched this date range on Scotland's People with all the name variations above (all of which have been on different certificates).
MCRAE, Inverness, Dumbarton, Skye
HOUSTON, Govan & Greenock
CAMERON, Govan
MCMILLAN, Govan & Dumbarton
FERGUSON, Glasgow
CAMPBELL, Cardross,
YOUNG, Belfast
CARMEDRAL/CARMICHAEL, Argyll

Her mum's maiden name on birth or marriage certificate?

Have you ruled out:

CAMERON
CATHERINE
33
BURNS
F
1903
646 / 2 / 258
GOVAN

Looking at the Scotlandspeople index for the 1911 census, this could be the family.
Surname Cameron.
David aged 49.
Catherine aged 45.
Alexander aged 22.
David A. aged 12.
Helen aged 5.

You would have to spend 6 credits on Scotlandspeople to verify that it is indeed the same family but it would narrow you're search considerably.

Census for Govan, 644/2 - 70 - 11.
Paterson, Torrance, Gilchrist - Hamilton Lanarkshire.
McCallum - Oban, McKechnie - Ross of Mull Argyll.
Scrim - Perthshire.
Liddell - Polmont,
Binnie - Muiravonside Stirlingshire.
Curran, McCafferty, Stevenson, McCue - Co Donegal
Gibbons, Weldon - Co Mayo.
Devlin - Co Tyrone.
Leonard - County Donegal & Glasgow.

Does the marriage cert show Peter/David as previously married as Alexander is too old to have been born to an 1895 marriage

Looking at her 1866 birth her mmn was Burns.

Looking at her 1866 birth her mmn was Burns.

Which would fit with the 33 yr old per my post above. So, age at death is a few years out, which can happen.

Her Parents were Archibald Houston and Helen Burns. I have her birth and marriage certificate, and several of her children's birth and marriage certificates.

@Lodger, i've got them on the 1901 census on ancestry but haven't managed to find them on 1911 or 1921 on Scotlandspeople. Their Children were David Andrew (b. 1895), Helen (b. 1898), Peter (b. 1900), and Catherine (b. 1903).

I'm a doofus - I've been using Scotlands People wrong and putting Catherines maiden name instead of her mother's maiden name. Thank you so much for all your help, the record Scotmum found is the correct one!

I'm coming back after a break of several years and I expect I'll have few more brain melts before I get back into the swing of things! Thanks again all  :)
